ABOUT US

Established in 1890, the Broadford Football Netball Club (BFNC) has been proudly representing the Broadford community in both football and netball for over 140 years.

Most recently, the Club competed in Division Two of the Outer East Football and Netball League. With our football program on pause in Season 2025, our netball program continues to go from strength to strength within the Northern Football and Netball League, competing on a Friday night at various metropolitan Melbourne locations. In Season 2026, the Club will commence with the Bendigo Football Netball League.

The Club has provided grounding for many past VFL/AFL players including Premiership players Alan Ezard, Barry Hall, Jack Green and Bob Suter. A range of former players have also received high individual accolades including Magarey Medallist James Ezard and Adelaide Crows 200 gamer and Best & Fairest winner Richard Douglas.

Over many years, the netball department has enjoyed great individual and team success. In Season 2022, the A and B Grade team played off in the Outer East Football and Netball League Division Two Grand Final, with the C Grade and Under 17s team also making it to the Preliminary Final. In Season 2023 not only did all four teams again make finals, but our B Grade netball team took out the premiership! In Season 2024, two out of the three teams entered into the NFNL competition made finals, with Broadford 1 – Team White making the Preliminary Final and Broadford 2 – Team Blue going down in a tight Grand Final.

The Football Department has had incredible era’s of success too, such as two famous four-peat’s winning back-to-back flags in the 20’s and another famous run in the 1970’s. Senior football premiership years include: 1904, 1909, 1911, 1913, 1919, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1929, 1930, 1945, 1946, 1949, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1981, 1984, 1996.

Committed to a sustainable future for all age groups, demographics and abilities, the BFNC has been actively promoting a ‘people-focused’ vision to ensure we connect, support, celebrate and value all members, sponsors, players and supporters of the BFNC and wider community, to promote social inclusion at its highest level through sport, events and interaction.

The BFNC is continuing to grow as an endorsed AFL Victoria Quality Club and Good Sports Level 3, as we strive for greatness both on-and-off the field and court, balanced with fun, family and friendship along the way.

The club is a rising not-for-profit sporting organisation with a rich history, and prides itself on being an integral part of the town, shire and wider community.

We are a very small, yet passionate committee doing whatever we can to improve the BFNC experience for all, fundraising and advocating to provide the best possible club environment.

If you are not already involved in some way, we invite you to connect or re-engage with us and come along the journey with us in Season 2026.
