Hall of Fame Inductee – 2024

Congratulations to Kevin ‘Butch’ Inness on becoming our latest inductee to the
Broadford Football Netball Club
‘Hall of Fame’.

Kevin began playing for Broadford in the thirds in 1966 as a fourteen year old, and the very next year season, not only won the Thirds Best and Fairest, but was awarded ‘Best on Ground’ in the 1967 Grand Final where he kicked 6 goals in a premiers and champions season.

In 1968, Kevin started playing senior football as a sixteen year old, as did three other players in the team coached by Max Stephenson.

In 1969 and 1970, Kevin was coached by Wally Mumford with the latter year achieving runners-up Best and Fairest by only two votes to John Bordignon, who went on to win the league Best and Fairest that year.

In 1971, Kevin played in the senior premiership, again awarded ‘Best on Ground’ and coming 3rd Best and Fairest in the League behind John Bordignon and Bluey Shelton.

In 1972, 73 and 74, Broadford won three more senior football premierships in which Kevin proudly played in.

In 1975, Kevin coached both the 1st and 2nd’s team before departing for a few seasons to neighbouring club Seymour.

In 1982, Kevin returned to the BFNC and unfortunately broke his Tibula and played only 4 games.

Kevin’s next role with the club was in 1986 where he was the runner to Coach Steve Sharp, and then in 1989, was Chairman of Selectors for half a season to Coach Greg Sharp when Geoff Kirby went on holidays, and continued as Chairman of Selectors in 1990 to then Coach Richard Martin.

In seasons 1994 and 1995, Kevin was Club President, before transitioning into the Club Trainer role from 1996 to 2002 which included the year of Broadford’s last premiership.

Kevin’s contributions to the Club spanned across five decades as both a player and volunteer – 11 seasons, two 3rds premierships, four back-to-back senior premierships, 140 senior football games, two seasons as President, one season as coach, chairman of selectors, runner, trainer and general all-rounder.

It gives us great pleasure to share with everyone Kevin’s incredible achievements, and officially announce Kevin’s induction into the Broadford Football Netball Club Hall of Fame.
